What is Malachite?

Malachite is the consensus layer of Arc.

How does it work?

Transactions, a proposed block, validator votes and a finalized chainMalachite coordinates two rounds of validator votes. A block commits after more than two-thirds of voting power precommits to it. Someone sends a transaction. It waits with the others for a place in a block.

This is how Arc agrees on one history. Without enough agreement, the block cannot be finalized.
